Ryedale Walsingham Association sets out on pilgrimage to Walsingham today, on the annual journey to visit the National Shrine of Our Lady in a tiny Norfolk village. We can’t wait.
A pilgrimage is many things: a journey, a refreshment of faith, a chance to make petitions to the Blessed Virgin in a special way, a chance to have fun together.
Parishioners who are not coming with us will be sending petitions for pilgrims to leave at the Shrine, and the pilgrimage schedule has been typed out in a special leaflet so that the pilgrims’ progress can be followed in prayer.
Of course, it won’t be quite the same as in previous years. Barbara Knight, our Pilgrim in Shining Armour and co-founder with Fr Bill of the Ryedale Association, has died. But she will know we are there.
