Every year, on the first Sunday in Lent, Catechumens (people preparing for baptism at the Easter Vigil) and Candidates for reception into the Catholic Church, are presented to the Bishop in his Cathedral, and the Catechumens are ‘elected’ by the Bishop to go forward for Baptism. This year Fr Bill and several members of St Joseph’s made the journey to the Cathedral to present a Catechumen. It was an inspiring service, with people young and old from all over the Diocese coming to make this important step on their journey into the Church. The Bishop was present, but, on account of his recent fall and consequent surgery, was unable to lead the service; Canon Pat Hartnett stood in for him. The Cathedral choir enhanced the worship with their excellent singing.
